You can use the Echo to control a variety of smart home lights, switches, thermostats, and more. It also serves as a Zigbee smart home hub for compatible devices.
Echo for music
The Echo features an up-firing 3” neodymium woofer and two front-firing 7/8” tweeters for full, spacious sound.
Two-way Bluetooth means you can stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the Echo, or from the Echo to a paired Bluetooth speaker.
This smart speaker’s 3.5mm stereo minijack can be configured for either input or output. So you can use the Echo as a speaker for your portable player, or as a music source for your headphones.
Privacy and family-friendly features
The Echo has a top-mounted mute button, making it easy to disable the mic. You can also view, hear, or delete your voice recordings made with the Echo at any time.
Have young ones about? Amazon Kids parental controls ensures they only hear kid-friendly responses. Plus the controls filter songs with explicit lyrics and block shopping. And Amazon Kids only allow your children to call approved contacts.
Multi-room functionality
The Echo can wirelessly connect to other Amazon Echo devices in your home. You can play the same music in one or more rooms. You can also use the devices like intercoms, to talk between rooms — or even between floors.
